Three threats to the UN order

19 Şubat 2026 Perşembe

First in Davos, then in Munich, it was determined that the "international order has been destroyed." The international order they refer to is the 1945 order, the UN order. That is, the order established by the victors of World War II, who formed the Security Council with veto power. We could also call it the nuclear order because of the nuclear power of the five permanent members. (The American order, on the other hand, is a second path that undermined the 1945 order in favour of the US with the 1947 Truman Doctrine and the 1947 Marshall Aid.)

Now Europe complains that this UN order has been destroyed, even though two of its members, Britain and France, are members of the five-member council at the top of the UN order.

But the problem is that Europe also has a share of the blame and guilt for how things have come to this point, that is, for the destruction of the UN order.

The NATO threat to the UN order

The UN order has been under three threats from yesterday to today.

The first threat was the aggression launched by NATO following the collapse of the USSR. This aggression first tore Yugoslavia apart and then advanced towards Russia.

Although Europe today characterises Russia's intervention in Ukraine as "the use of force against sovereignty" that disrupts the UN order, Russia's intervention was a consequence, not a cause. It was a matter of survival in response to NATO expansion, which was the real threat to the order. Militarily, it was a breakthrough operation against NATO encirclement.

Therefore, by supporting NATO's aggressive expansion under US leadership, and moreover, by Germany itself playing a role in the break-up of Yugoslavia, Europe had in fact become part of the first threat to the UN order.

The Israeli threat to the UN order

The second threat to the UN order is Israel's regional aggression, which extends beyond Palestine. The US, using its veto power in the Security Council, has tied the hands of the UN, which was trying to curb this aggression, thereby undermining the UN order from behind. Of course, the US has also undermined the UN order from the front as the direct military, financial, and political sponsor of Israeli aggression.

Washington is now pursuing the transformation of the Peace Council under Trump's presidency into an alternative UN, claiming that "the UN could not bring peace to Gaza, but the US President did."

Germany and Japan pursue nuclear weapons

The third threat to the UN system is the nuclear threat.

No, it is not Iran's nuclear programme, which the US, Israel and Europe keep harping on about, that is the threat. Iran is conducting peaceful, non-military nuclear research in accordance with international rules, just as dozens of other countries do. And the Tehran administration has repeatedly stated for many years that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. The relevant agencies have also confirmed this repeatedly in their inspections.

The nuclear threat to the UN system comes from Germany, Japan and Poland!

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz wrote in the renowned CFR magazine: "We have begun secret talks with France on nuclear deterrence in Europe." (Foreign Affairs, 13 February 2026)

An advisor to Japan's aggressive Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told the Japanese media, "Japan should now consider developing its own nuclear deterrence."

In other words, the two fascist losers of 1945, Germany and Japan, now want to crown the militarisation and armament they began several years ago with nuclear weapons.

Poland, which seeks to become a central power in Europe, has joined them. Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that "Poland must develop its own nuclear weapons programme, citing the threat from Russia."

China's role

China, on the other hand, advocates "strengthening the leading role of the UN." Therefore, China and Russia are the pillars of the UN system, which is still functioning, for better or worse.

"Strengthening the UN's leading role" can be achieved through reform of the UN Security Council. The criterion for this is that South America and Africa should also be directly represented on the UN Security Council.
