Remarkable historical reference: MKE Ankaragücü's new season jerseys were introduced!
TFF 1st League team MKE Ankaragücü introduced the 3 jerseys to be used in the 2024/25 season with a video full of references to club history shared on the social media platform X.
In the post on X, MKE Ankaragücü made a remarkable reference to October 29, 1923, Turkish Republic Day.
As club legend goes, on October 29, 1923, when the republic was announced in Turkiye by Ataturk, military factory workers fired 101 cannon shots to celebrate. These workers were also players of the Anadolu-Turan Sanatkarangücü football team.
It was the team founded by workers of the Ottoman Empire's arsenal in Istanbul. Later, in 1920, during the Turkish War of Independence, the facility and workers moved to Ankara to participae in the war, after it was declared as the new capital. In 1933, the club changed its name to Ankaragücü.
As a reference to history, the crest used by Anadolu-Turan Sanatkarangücü is located between the yellow bars in the navy blue jersey introduced this season.
MKE Ankaragücü, or Anadolu-Turan Sanatkarangücü, completed the first Ankara League in 1923/24 season as champions.
The capital team's goal in the 2024/25 season is to win the TFF 1st League, in which three Ankara teams participate, reflecting this 100-year historical reference.
Additionally, the yellow jersey was one of the jerseys used last season. No comments was made on the issue. The white jersey, introduced this season, has also been highly appreciated by the fans.
