Turkey's benchmark stock index rises midweek
The Istanbul stock exchange gains 25 points at opening.
Turkey's benchmark stock index began Wednesday's trading on a positive note, opening at 8,118.22 points — a 0.30% or 24.67-point increase from its previous close.
The Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended Tuesday at 8,093.54 points, marking a modest decline of 0.17%, with a substantial trading volume of 93 billion liras (approximately $3.21 billion).
In the currency markets, the US dollar to Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 28.9035 at 10:05 a.m. local time. Concurrently, the euro traded at 31.8350 against the lira, and the British pound was valued at 36.7845 Turkish liras.
On the commodities front, Brent crude oil was trading at approximately $81.56 per barrel. Meanwhile, the price for an ounce of gold stood at $2,044.60.
