Zelenskyy says Azerbaijani citizen killed in Russian overnight attack on Kyiv region

One of those killed was an Azerbaijani citizen, Zelenskyy said in a statement on Telegram.

Separately, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said 35 people were injured in a strike, and search and rescue operations had been completed and no one was found under the rubble.

Meanwhile, four people, including three children, were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Voronezh region, regional Gov. Alexander Gusev said.

“About 20 drones were intercepted over the region overnight and in the morning. A woman was hospitalized in moderate condition, two children were in serious condition and a teenager received medical treatment at the scene,” he said.

A country house and three garages were also damaged by fire in Voronezh, while windows and roofs of several apartment buildings and private houses were damaged in the city and surrounding areas, according to the governor.

In Russia’s Bryansk region, part of a railway bridge collapsed after a drone strike, causing 10 railcars to derail, regional Gov. Alexander Kovalchuk said. He said Ukrainian drones had targeted railway infrastructure in several parts of the region.

Eighteen empty freight cars also derailed in the Unechsky district, while railway tracks were damaged in the Navlinsky district, according to Kovalchuk. No one was injured in the attacks, he said, adding that train traffic was not disrupted in Navlinsky.

In a separate statement, the Russian Defense Ministry said its forces struck Ukrainian logistics and communications facilities, port infrastructure and vessels it said were used to support the Ukrainian armed forces.

The ministry said the targets included data centers and fuel infrastructure in Kyiv, facilities at the Vasylkiv military airfield in the Kyiv region, a logistics center in Odesa, infrastructure at the Izmail port and a shipbuilding and repair facility.

It added that two dry cargo vessels carrying military or dual-use supplies had been hit.

The ministry separately said its Northern Group of Forces had taken control of Ulanovo in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, while the Central Group of Forces had taken control of Novovodyane in the Donetsk region.

Ukraine’s General Staff said its forces struck a Pantsir-S2 surface-to-air missile and gun system near the settlement of Seltso in Bryansk.
