US House minority leader to meet with Democratic New York City mayoral candidate 'at the end of the week'
US House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Monday that he will meet with New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani "at the end of the week."
"I'm scheduled to meet with the Democratic nominee at the end of the week back home in Brooklyn," Jeffries told reporters on Capitol Hill.
Jeffries, a New York Democrat, has not yet endorsed Mamdani, who recently won the New York City Democratic mayoral primary election.
Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that he will continue his campaign for New York City mayor as an independent candidate.
Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, a former Democrat, is also running for re-election as an independent.
Jeffries said he hasn't had a conversation with Adams or Cuomo since the primary and has "no current plans to do so at this moment."
