In a statement on Telegram, Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin said the Russian strike hit a bus in the city in the eastern Ukrainian region, initially reporting that 12 people were killed and 14 others injured. He later updated the death toll to 30 and the number of injured to 18, accusing Russia of “deliberately targeting civilians.”

"Given the sharp deterioration of the security situation, I have ordered the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk city military administrations to suspend public transport operations," Filashkin added.

The reports from Kramatorsk came as the death toll from Wednesday's Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Pryluky in the northern Chernihiv region rose to 22.

Chernihiv Governor Vyacheslav Chaus said in a morning statement that five children were among those killed, while more than 50 were injured in Wednesday's attack. He said another strike that afternoon also hit the regional capital of Chernihiv.

Commenting on the strikes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said search and rescue efforts in Pryluky had been completed.

"And even after such a brutal attack, the Russians continued striking our regions. This morning, Russia hit an ordinary public transport stop in Kramatorsk with an aerial bomb... Overall, Russian strikes caused destruction in 10 regions," Zelenskyy said on US social media platform X.

He called on Ukraine's partners to provide new packages for Ukraine’s defense, describing the supply of anti-ballistic capabilities, ammunition and interceptors as “directly helping save lives every day.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine's Air Force claimed air defenses downed 126 out of 142 attack drones launched by Russia overnight.

Russian authorities have yet to comment on Ukraine's claims.

Separately, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said three people were killed and 14 others injured, eight of whom were hospitalized, in Russian strikes.

Moscow and Kyiv have ramped up strikes in recent months, targeting each other’s logistics centers, ports, and energy infrastructure. They deny deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, maintaining that the strikes are directed at military targets or facilities linked to military activities.
