Turkish stock exchange down 5.5% on Monday
Benchmark BIST 100 index drops around 580 points
The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Monday at 9,893.41 points, down 5.54% from the previous close.
The BIST 100 index started the week at 9,769.69 points, losing 580.06 points from Friday's close.
The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,733.35, while its daily high was 10,117.77.
All 100 indices declined during the first transaction day of the week.
The total transaction volume reached 102 billion Turkish liras ($3.08 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.38 trillion liras ($235.6 billion).
The USD/TRY exchange rate was 33.4005 as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.6825, and the GBP/TRY traded at 42.6295.
The price of an ounce of gold was $2,407.89, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $76.50.
