Turkish imam stabs Israeli policeman in Jerusalem, attacked killed
The Turkish citizen stabbed an Israeli policeman in Jerusalem, was shot dead after the attack. Attacker identified to be an imam.
According to the information Cumhuriyet obtained from Şanlıurfa Provincial Clerical Office, Hasan Saklanan, who was killed by Israeli police, was working as an imam in Şanlıurfa.
Hasan Saklanan, 34, was shot dead after reportedly attacking Israeli police in Jerusalem.
According to the report, a security guard was wounded near the Flower Gate in a terror attack that took place in Jerusalem's Old City at around 12:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
According to Israeli media, Şanlıurfa imam Hassan Saklanan carried out a knife attack against Israeli police in Jerusalem's Old City.
An 18-year-old woman and a 30-year-old policeman were wounded in the incident, Israel's official emergency aid and blood bank service, Red Shield, said in a statement.
Israeli police confirmed that the attacker who had entered the country via tourist visa, was killed by security forces. The police officer was immediately evacuated to a local hospital and is reportedly in a non-critical condition.
Israeli media reported that Saklanan had entered Israel from Jordan three days ago.
According to information obtained by Cumhuriyet from the Şanlıurfa Provincial Mufti's Office, Hasan Saklanan, who was killed by Israeli police, was an imam at the Kepez neighborhood mosque in Şanlıurfa.
