Tsunami warning issued after 6.8 earthquake strikes off Japan's eastern coast
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck off Japan's eastern coast at 0803GMT on Sunday, the US Geological Survey said.
The earthquake occurred near Iwate prefecture at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles).
The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami warning for the eastern coastline of the prefecture.
Waves as high as 1 meter (3.28 feet) could occur along the Iwate coast, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
