"The occupier's stance remains unchanged, leaving the Cairo talks without new developments," stated the official, preferring anonymity. "There has been no progress."

Contrastingly, Egypt's Al-Qahera News TV, affiliated with the state, cited a senior Egyptian source early Monday, claiming advancements had been achieved post-agreement on discussed matters among the delegations.

In an effort to mediate, Israel and Hamas sent representatives to Egypt on Sunday, following CIA Director William Burns's arrival on Saturday. Burns's presence emphasized the United States' push for a resolution that would both release hostages in Gaza and alleviate the humanitarian situation.

Despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza since October, Israel and Hamas have not bridged the gap over their principal demands. Hamas is calling for an end to the Israeli offensive and a complete withdrawal from Gaza. In contrast, Israel seeks the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, without pledging to cease hostilities.
