Rebel attack in the Democratic Republic of Congo: 50 dead
At least 50 civilians were killed in an attack by a rebel group in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to national media reports, members of the rebel group Democratic Alliance Forces (DAF) organized an armed attack against civilians in Beni region of North Kivu province in the east of the country.
At least 50 civilians were killed in the attack in which many houses were looted and set on fire.
Security forces launched an operation in the region after the attack.
The DAF, which has been active in Uganda and the DRC since the late 1990s, was formed by the gathering of former members of movements such as the National Liberation Army of Uganda (NALU), the Muslim Liberation Army of Uganda and the Tablighi Jamaat.
