New far-left group claims bombings in Greece
A new far-left group on Sunday claimed responsibility for a bomb attack on the offices of Greece’s railway operator on Friday and a previous attack in February.

On Friday, a bomb exploded near the offices of Hellenic Train, causing limited damage and no casualties. The group reportedly alerted media outlets ahead of the blast.
They had also forewarned about the explosion in February outside the Labor Ministry, which also caused no casualties.
In a lengthy statement posted on the Athens Indymedia website, the group identified itself as Revolutionary Class Self-Defense.
It said last week’s general strike and nationwide rallies marking the anniversary of the deadly train crash on Feb. 28 served as “collective defense as a class” and were also “a practical act of solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people, who with weapons in hand show the way for the liberation of the peoples of the whole world.”
Revolutionary Class Self-Defense blamed Hellenic Train for the 2023 crash, which killed 57 people when a passenger train and freight train collided on the same track.
“With the blood not yet dry, they attributed the (train) accident to human error and the ‘chronic deficiencies of the Greek state,’ in effect demanding even more freedom of movement for capital, more privatizations and new attacks on any remaining state-owned infrastructure,” the group said.
It also slammed the economic policies pursued by governments, which it claimed worsened working conditions and “murdered” workers through workplace accidents.
There was no immediate comment from the government until the filing of this report.
