Kremlin says US to inform Russia about results of US-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia
The Kremlin spokesman said on Tuesday that Washington will inform Moscow about the outcome of its ongoing talks with Kyiv in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
"Today, American and Ukrainian officials are meeting in Jeddah. In some way, the American side, which is exploring paths to a peaceful (Moscow-Kyiv) settlement, will inform us (about the outcome)," Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing in Moscow.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz met on Tuesday with senior Ukrainian officials, led by Andriy Yermak, a top aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in Saudi Arabia.
Ahead of the talks, Zelenskyy pledged that Ukraine’s position "will be absolutely constructive."
Commenting on media reports that US Special Envoy for Russia and Ukraine Steven Witkoff may visit Moscow on Thursday and meet with President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "We will inform you in a timely manner."
Addressing rumors of a potential six-month ceasefire with Ukraine, Peskov dismissed Western media reports as "inaccurate" and urged reliance on official sources and direct statements from relevant officials.
He added that discussing the positions of the opposing sides in the Ukrainian conflict was "absolutely impossible" at this stage.
"Only today will the Americans learn, as they themselves say, from Ukraine, to what extent Ukraine is ready for peace. Therefore, it would be foolish to pull fragments from settlement plans and present them prematurely," Peskov remarked.
Regarding speculation about a possible US withdrawal from NATO, Peskov said it was not Russia’s concern.
"NATO has its own charter – read it, everything is written there," he said.
