Greta Thunberg and activists removed by police from Swedish Parliament entrance
On Wednesday, Swedish police once again intervened to remove Greta Thunberg and fellow climate activists who were obstructing the entrance to the parliament, marking the second removal this week.
Thunberg, alongside numerous environmental protestors, initiated a sit-down demonstration on Monday, targeting the main access points to Sweden's legislative body. They protested against climate change and criticized what they perceive as insufficient political action to combat it.
Initially, the police did not disrupt the protest but proceeded to remove the demonstrators when they continued their protest on Tuesday morning. Thunberg, 21, who has become a prominent figure among young climate activists, sparked a worldwide movement with her weekly protests outside the Swedish parliament starting in 2018. These protests quickly expanded, leading to large-scale rallies around the globe.
The Stockholm police clarified that while the activists were within their rights to protest outside the parliament, they were relocated due to their blockade of the entrances.
