Daniel Noboa sworn in as Ecuador’s new president
Daniel Noboa, who won Ecuador’s presidential runoff election on April 13, took the oath of office for the 2025–2029 term in a ceremony at the National Assembly in the capital Quito.
The 37-year-old president officially began his term after receiving the presidential sash in front of lawmakers and foreign dignitaries late Saturday.
Noboa emphasized that fighting drug trafficking and organized crime would remain a top priority, and said his government would not slow down in its efforts.
He also underlined that there would be no tolerance for corruption and that Ecuador must move forward with unity and determination.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, US Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. representing President Donald Trump, and top diplomats from Brazil, Bolivia, Costa Rica, and other nations attended the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, Noboa greeted supporters gathered in Independence Square.
