The Education Ministry is introducing 29 new academic majors in emerging fields such as AI and low-altitude economy. These new programs will be part of this year’s college entrance examinations, according to an official statement of ministry cited by Global Times.
The aim of these additional majors is to meet market demand, technology and development needs, in line with Beijing's national strategies, the statement said.
The added programs include specialties such as regional and country studies, carbon neutrality science and engineering, marine science and technology, and healthcare security.
To keep pace with developments in cutting-edge technologies, new programs like intelligent molecular engineering, medical devices and equipment engineering, and spatiotemporal information engineering have also been added to the curriculum catalogue.
