A tanker carrying 1.4 million liters of fuel oil reportedly sank off Manila Bay in the Philippines.
A tanker carrying 1.4 million liters of fuel oil sank off the coast of the Philippines, ABS-CBN News reported, citing the country's Transportation Minister Jaime Bautista.
16 people were rescued from the sinking ship, 4 of the rescued people needed medical attention.
One crew member is still missing. Search is ongoing.
Oil tanker overturned and capsized in Manila Bay due to the typhoon active on the local area.
Phillipine authoroties rushed to contain the 3.7 kilometers long oil spill, yet strong winds and waves made it impossible to fully contain the toxic fuel spillage.
