14 dead as truck plows into friday worshippers in Nigeria
In Nigeria's Kano State, a truck plowed into a crowd of people gathering for Friday prayers, resulting in an initial death toll of 14.
Abdullahi Labaran, the Public Relations Officer for the Nigerian National Road Safety Corps in Kano, said in a written statement that the incident occurred in the Kura area along the Kaduna-Kano highway. The truck lost control and rammed into the crowd gathered for Friday prayers.
14 Lives Lost
Labaran reported that 14 people were confirmed dead and many others were injured in the accident.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, and Labaran expressed concern that the death toll might rise.
