1 killed, over 120 injured as fire breaks out at Russia's Amur Gas Chemical Complex

At least one person was killed and more than 120 people were injured Tuesday when a fire broke out at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia’s Far East, the company said.

The person who died was a "contractor employee and a Chinese citizen," it said on Telegram.

At least 19 people were hospitalized in the city of Svobodny with moderate to severe injuries, it added.

Another 104 people with minor injuries, such as cuts and bruises, received medical treatment, the company noted.

The fire broke out in an auxiliary processing area of the pyrolysis unit but did not damage the main equipment, it said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, the company said, adding that the blaze has been contained.
