Minister Fidan's stance on Montreux: Not even worth considering
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that they will strictly adhere to the Montreux Straits Convention, emphasizing, "Beyond discussing this matter, it is not even worth considering."

Minister Fidan spoke at a joint press conference following his meeting with Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Fidan remarked, "Preserving tranquility in the Black Sea and preventing any actions that could jeopardize it is among our top priorities as the enforcers of the Montreux Convention."
Expressing satisfaction with the agreement to establish a "Mine Countermeasure Task Group" in the Black Sea among Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania, Fidan stated that they consider it an exemplary case of regional security cooperation.
Minister Fidan emphasized that they view this as a step in line with both the principle of regional ownership and the spirit of alliance among coastal countries.
Fidan concluded, "We will continue to strictly enforce the Montreux Convention. Beyond discussing this matter, it is not even worth considering."
