Erdoğan appoints AKP PM's brother as Dicle University rector
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, leader of the ruling AKP, has appointed Prof. Dr. Kamuran Eronat as the new rector of Dicle University. Eronat is the brother of Oya Eronat, a former AKP member of parliament for Diyarbakır.
The presidential appointments were announced in the Official Gazette. According to the Presidential Decree No. 2024/295, Prof. Dr. Kamuran Eronat will replace the current rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karakoç, at Dicle University.
Prof. Dr. Kamuran Eronat, who previously served in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Dicle University’s Faculty of Literature, is known to be the brother of Oya Eronat, who served as an AKP deputy during the 24th and 27th parliamentary terms.
AKP-Affiliated Rector Retains Position
In another appointment, President Erdoğan has reappointed Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, a former AKP lawmaker, as the rector of Ankara University.

- Atatürk University: Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu
- Akdeniz University: Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan
- Middle East Technical University (METU): Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil
- Istanbul Technical University: Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal
- Gazi University: Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal
- Trakya University: Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler
- Dicle University: Prof. Dr. Kamuran Eronat
- Fırat University: Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Göktaş
- Istanbul Esenyurt University: Prof. Dr. Süleyman Özdemir
- Istanbul Commerce University: Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek
- Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University: Prof. Dr. Adnan Sözen
- Çukurova University: Prof. Dr. Hamit Emrah Beriş
