Volleyball friendly game played at Turkiye-Greece border
Under the coordination of Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF), a volleyball friendly match was organized at Pazarkule Border Gate with the participation of Turkish, Greek and German students.
The closing program of the "Advan+AGE" Project, which was launched 18 months ago within the scope of the European Union Erasmus Youth Program, took place at the border gate.
A volleyball match was organized in partnership with the Turkish Volleyball Federation, Ankara University, the Italian Volleyball Federation and non-governmental organizations SGRIM V from Germany and Fix Art from Greece.
Turkish, Greek and German students who took part in the project played a friendly match on the field created at the border crossing.
Turkish and Greek music was also played during the match.
TVF Vice President Alper Sedat Aslandaş told AA correspondent that the project lasted for about 2 years.
Stating that various activities were organized within the scope of the project, Aslandaş said, "We aimed to bring our children who have limited access to sports due to their economic or social position to sports. At the same time, activities were carried out to develop environmental awareness and social solidarity for our children."
Onur Hoşnut, Lecturer at Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Sitting Volleyball Coordinator and TVF European Union Project Specialist, stated that they held the closing event of a long-term Erasmus Youth Program.
Explaining that they organized an inclusive activity with the participation of young people between the ages of 13 and 15 within the scope of the project, Hoşnut said, "Our aim is to bring together children from different countries and fuse them. We ended the project with a friendly match on the border between Turkiye and Greece. The match took place in a friendly atmosphere. It was a match where friendship would win, not competition."
After the match, Edirne Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports Sports Branch Manager Murat Ulaşdır, Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services Branch Manager Sebahattin Bilgiç and customs officials congratulated the students.
