Thank You, Sultans of the Net
The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team concluded the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in fourth place. Competing in the bronze medal match for the first time in history, the team fought hard but succumbed to Brazil in a 3-1 defeat. Despite their exceptional effort in the first three sets, a few errors in the closing stages enabled Brazil to capitalize and take home the bronze.
National Team Head Coach Santarelli expressed his mixed emotions: “I didn’t have much time to work with the players. I was eager to bring a medal to this country. We’ve reached a very high level, and we aspire to win a medal for this nation in the future.”
EDA: "I’m Proud"
Team Captain Eda Erdem Dündar shared her disappointment: “I’m deeply saddened. We needed to close this chapter with a medal, but it didn’t happen. However, I’m extremely proud of my team and the coaching staff. Despite everything, we never gave up. This team has a bright future. Everyone on the team is determined to win, but we faced injuries, and the lack of joint training sessions... Maybe people will say, ‘She’s always saying the same thing,’ but if you’re not working together as a team, it’s really difficult to replicate the same actions during a match.”
