Turkish teams rally for Alperen Sengun's NBA All-Star selection
Turkey's prominent sports clubs, including Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Besiktas, have called on their fans to support Houston Rockets player Alperen Sengun in his bid for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. The voting, open until January 20, is part of a nationwide campaign to boost Sengun's chances.
Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak shared the voting link, vote.nba.com/en, urging Turkish citizens to cast their votes for Sengun.
"Now is the time to support Alperen! Every vote we cast today could be as pivotal as a skillful 3-point shot," Askin emphasized, rallying enthusiasm for the campaign with the tweet, "All-Star is loading!@alperennsengun."
Fan votes play a crucial role in the selection of All-Star Game starters, accounting for 50% of the decision. The remaining 50% is equally divided between current NBA players and a media panel, each contributing 25%.
The All-Star Game is scheduled for February 18 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Fans can cast their votes through the NBA App and NBA.com until the January 20 deadline.
