That's it! 'Our Boys' are in the last 16! Czechia 1-2 Turkiye
The Turkish National Football Team defeated Czechia 2-1 in EURO 2024, advancing to the Round of 16.
In the third match of Group F of the European Football Championship, the Turkish National Team faced Czechia. The match, played in Hamburg, saw Turkey triumph with a 2-1 score.
The Turkish team took the lead in the 51st minute with a goal from captain Hakan Çalhanoğlu. Czechia equalized in the 66th minute through Tomas Soucek. In stoppage time, Cenk Tosun scored, securing a 2-1 victory for Turkey.
Czechia's Antonin Barak was sent off with a red card in the 20th minute, becoming the earliest player to be ejected in a match in the history of the European Championship.
With this result, Turkey advanced to the Round of 16 with 6 points. In the next round, the Turkish National Team will face Austria. If they defeat Austria, they will meet the winner of the Netherlands vs. Romania match in the quarter-finals. Czechia exited the tournament with just 1 point.
SURPRISE FROM GEORGIA
In the group's other match, Georgia surprised Portugal with a 2-0 victory.
Georgia's goals were scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 2nd minute and Georges Mikautadze from a penalty in the 57th minute.
With this victory over Portugal, Georgia secured a spot among the best third-placed teams and advanced to the Round of 16.
