Mike James crowned EuroLeague's top scorer
Mike James, the 33-year-old AS Monaco point guard, has become the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague's all-time leading scorer, amassing a career total of 4,464 points and surpassing the previous record held by Vassilis Spanoulis.
Following a 20-point performance in a 98-80 victory over Crvena Zvezda, James achieved the milestone, as confirmed by the EuroLeague. With this achievement, James's career points tally rose to 4,464, eclipsing Spanoulis's record of 4,455 points.
At a post-game press conference, James expressed a mix of pride and joy over his accomplishment. "I am just proud of myself. I am just happy, and it’s a lot of good emotions," he said, acknowledging he would need time to fully appreciate the significance of his achievement.
Throughout his EuroLeague career, James has contributed significantly to various teams, scoring 467 points in 45 games for Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, 522 points in 37 games for Panathinaikos, 595 points in 30 games for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, 1,112 points in 55 games for CSKA Moscow, and 1,760 points in 104 games for Monaco.
