Decision expected today: TFF submits Merih Demiral's defense to UEFA
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has submitted a defense file to UEFA regarding the investigation into national team player Merih Demiral for making the "bozkurt" hand gesture during the victory against Austria in the Round of 16 at the 2024 European Championship (EURO 2024).
According to information from federation officials, the 30-page defense was prepared by both local and international lawyers and sent to UEFA's Disciplinary Committee.
The file highlights numerous previous instances and emphasizes that the "bozkurt" gesture is a thousand-year-old symbol of Turkic peoples in Anatolia, Central Asia, and various parts of the world.
UEFA is expected to announce its decision on the investigation later today.
