Cristiano Ronaldo, playing for Saudi Super League's Al Nassr, has become the highest goal scorer of 2023, netting his 53rd goal on Tuesday.
The team announced, "Al Nassr Captain, Cristiano Ronaldo is now the world's top scorer in 2023, achieving his 53rd goal against Ittihad." This achievement puts him ahead of both Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane, who have each scored 52 goals.
At 38 years old, the Portuguese football icon secured his lead with two successful penalty shots, contributing to Al Nassr's 5-2 victory.
Currently, Harry Kane of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe trail Ronaldo with 52 goals each.
Close behind is Manchester City's Erling Haaland with 50 goals. However, Haaland, the Norwegian forward, may increase his tally as Manchester City is set to play against Everton and Sheffield United on December 30th.
