Barbora Krejcikova wins her 1st Wimbledon crown
Krejcikova beats Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 2-6, and 6-4 in 2024 Wimbledon women's singles final
Czech tennis player Barbora Krejcikova won her first Wimbledon women's singles title on Saturday.
Krejcikova, the world No. 31, beat Italian seventh-seed Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 2-6, and 6-4 in the Wimbledon final, which lasted nearly two hours.
"I think nobody believes that I got to the final and nobody is going to believe that I won the Wimbledon. I mean I still cannot believe it. It's unbelievable," Krejcikova said after her success in the London final.
Krejcikova was also the 2021 French Open (Roland Garros) champion, her maiden major singles title.
This year's Wimbledon, one of the four tennis majors, will end after the Sunday's men's final between Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Serbia's Novak Djokovic.
