EU nations on alert: Security at risk for all

During the opening of the conference dedicated to supporting Ukraine, hosted by his country, Macron voiced concerns about the security threat facing everyone today. "Today, the security of all is at risk," he stated, signaling a critical juncture for European countries to initiate a new phase of substantial support for Ukraine. "Ukraine stands resolute today, in need of our support beyond what we have previously offered, encompassing significant budgetary, economic, and capacity-building efforts," Macron emphasized.

He highlighted the increasingly dire situation in Ukraine and Russia's preparation for new assaults aimed at destabilizing the Ukrainian populace. "Russia cannot and must not win this war," Macron declared, underscoring the importance of collective security. He noted the heightened clarity of the threats faced today compared to yesterday, affirming, "What we're discussing also pertains to our own security."

Despite the lack of consensus among Western countries on sending troops to Ukraine, Macron stressed the necessity of leaving no stone unturned. "There was no consensus today on sending troops. Yet, everything must be considered to prevent Russia from winning this war. We must do everything within our power to achieve our goal," he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, joining the opening via video conference, expressed gratitude towards France and other supportive nations. "Together, we have already saved millions of lives," Zelensky remarked, ensuring, "Let's ensure that Vladimir Putin cannot destroy our achievements or attack another country."
