Couple discovers lost treasure in backyard, ensures it finds its way home
A couple in the United States experienced short-lived joy when they discovered a buried safe in their garden. The safe contained cash and jewelry, but their happiness was fleeting.

Living on Staten Island in the state of New York, USA, the couple found a mysterious buried safe in their garden. Inside the safe was a small fortune. Upon finding $52,000 in cash and numerous pieces of jewelry in the box, Maria Colonna-Emanuel and her husband Matthew said that finding a hidden treasure in a safe was like a childhood dream come true.
The safe, filled with diamonds, rubies, dozens of rings, and money, also contained a piece of paper with an address written on it. When the address turned out to be a nearby house, the couple went to their neighbors to explain the situation.
Their neighbors revealed that they had been robbed years ago. The couple then went to the police to verify the story and discovered that indeed, their safe containing $52,000 and jewelry had been stolen in 2011.
Upon this revelation, the couple returned the safe to its rightful owners. They declined any reward offered in return, stating that the real reward was fate itself. The neighbors expressed their gratitude to the couple.
