A fresh take on a Netflix classic - Squid Game
The producers of 'Squid Game: The Challenge' faced a unique challenge: keeping the show fresh for contestants familiar with the original Netflix series.

Executive producer Stephen Lambert explained the difficulty of adapting a scripted show into an unscripted format, especially when contestants anticipate the games. To maintain suspense, the production team introduced unexpected elements focusing on moral choices and surprises.
John Hay, another executive producer, highlighted the challenge of balancing surprise with familiarity. Two games, Dalgona and Marbles, were particularly challenging to adapt. The team needed 19 attempts to perfect the Dalgona recipe, ensuring fairness and allergy safety. For Marbles, producers devised a strategy to pair contestants in ways that heightened drama and unpredictability.
'Squid Game: The Challenge', featuring innovative twists on familiar games, is available on Netflix. The first five episodes release on November 22, followed by four more on November 29, culminating in the season finale on December 6.
