Turkish stock market dips at midweek opening
Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 7,717.18 points, marking a slight decline of 0.11% or 8.68 points from its previous close.
On Tuesday, the Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 7,725.86 points, down by 0.83%, with a total trading volume of 81 billion Turkish liras (approximately $2.8 billion).
As of 10:00 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), the US dollar was trading at 29.1080 against the Turkish lira. The euro-lira exchange rate stood at 31.9093, while the British pound was valued at 37.0007 liras.
In the commodities market, Brent crude oil was trading at around $79.29 per barrel. Meanwhile, gold prices reached $2,054.50 per ounce.
