Turkish stock exchange opens flat, benchmark index slightly down
The BIST 100, Turkey’s benchmark stock index, started Thursday’s session at 7,657.03 points — a minor drop of 0.08%, or 5.81 points, from its previous close.
On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended the day at 7,662.85 points, a decrease of 0.82%, with a trading volume of 63 billion Turkish liras ($2.16 billion).
As of 10 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), the US dollar was trading at 29.1410 Turkish liras, the euro at 31.8960 liras, and the British pound at 36.8150 liras.
In the commodities market, Brent crude oil was priced at around $79.70 per barrel. Gold was trading at $2,048.80 an ounce.
