Turkish stock exchange falls at week's start
Turkey's benchmark stock index began the week lower, opening Monday at 7,957.51 points—a 0.45% decrease, or 36.34 points, from the previous close.
The BIST 100 index, based in Borsa Istanbul, ended Friday at 7,993.85 points, after climbing 2.31%. The day's trading volume totaled 94 billion liras ($3.22 billion).
As of 9:52 a.m. local time (0652 GMT), the US dollar traded at 29.0430 against the Turkish lira. The euro was at 31.7284 liras, and the British pound fetched 36.8507 liras.
In commodities, Brent crude oil was priced around $77.38 per barrel. Gold was trading at $2,037.50 per ounce.
