Turkish stock exchange climbs 3.54% at Thursday's close
The Turkish benchmark stock index, the BIST 100, surged 3.54% to close at 9,054.18 points on Thursday, marking a significant gain of over 309 points from its previous close.
Starting the day at 8,797.54 points, the BIST 100 reached its highest at 9,054.18 points, with its lowest point also at the opening value. The day saw 94 indices advancing, while six declined.
Trading volume for the day totaled nearly 98 billion Turkish liras ($3.08 billion), pushing the overall market value of the index to approximately 7.7 trillion liras ($244 billion).
In the currency markets, the USD/TRY exchange rate was 31.8070 by 6:15 p.m. local time (1515 GMT), with the EUR/TRY and GBP/TRY rates at 34.7620 and 40.6065, respectively.
Gold's price per ounce stood at $2,163.55, while Brent crude oil hovered around $82.50 a barrel.
