It was the first appearance of the jailed former president before special counsel Min Joong-ki's team in the case, which launched in July to investigate corruption and other allegations surrounding ex-first lady Kim Keon Hee, Yonhap News reported.

Yoon is facing allegations of being an accomplice to his wife when she received luxury gifts in exchange for favors.

Prosecutors are investigating whether Yoon was involved in Kim's alleged acceptance of luxury gifts from others.

But Yoon’s lawyer said the former president was "completely unaware."

Yoon and Kim are under arrest, facing separate trials on martial law and corruption charges, respectively.
