Russian regions report Ukrainian strikes as Rostov governor cites 'massive' missile attack

Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar said the region was subjected to a “massive missile attack,” with damage reported in the city of Taganrog.

An educational institution, commercial building, gas pipeline, agricultural warehouses, grocery store and Ozon warehouse were damaged, Slyusar said on Telegram. Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambaeva said five apartment buildings were also damaged, but reported no casualties.

Reports also indicated damage near the Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex, although the extent and circumstances were not immediately confirmed by regional authorities.

Ukraine's General Staff said its forces struck the Atlant Aero plant in Taganrog, which it said manufactures drones.

In the Samara region, more than 40 drones were shot down overnight, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said. An industrial facility and several residential buildings were damaged, but no deaths were reported, he added.

Ukraine's General Staff said its forces struck the Syzran oil refinery, reporting a fire and damage to a crude oil distillation unit and storage tanks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed strikes on the Syzran refinery and a drone production facility in Taganrog. He said Ukrainian forces had also struck a drone preparation and launch site in the Oryol region and targets in the Black Sea.

In the Voronezh region, Governor Alexander Gusev said the attack damaged windows at a municipal building as well as the roofs and facades of four private houses. No casualties were reported, he said.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said its forces carried out group strikes with attack drones on logistics centers and ports in Ukraine, as well as vessels it said were used by the Ukrainian armed forces.

In the Odesa region, the ministry said a logistics center used to store and distribute military cargo arriving in Ukraine from abroad was hit in the settlement of Velyka Balka.

At the port of Chornomorsk, a dry cargo vessel and a ferry that the ministry said had delivered cargo intended for the Ukrainian armed forces were also hit, it added.

Russian forces also continued strikes on railway infrastructure in western Ukraine used to transport military cargo from European countries, the ministry said. ​​​​​​​
