Russia says ‘great deal of noise’ present in media regarding Ukraine peace proposals

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that there is a “great deal of noise” present in the media concerning peace proposals to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, calling much of it to be “fabrication.”

Speaking at a press briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on a story by The Washington Post published on Monday, which, citing an unnamed US official, reported on a joint peace proposal under development by the US and Europe.

“There is a great deal of noise in the press about all this right now, and much of that noise does not correspond to reality – it is pure fabrication,” Peskov said.

Peskov claimed that European countries were doing everything possible to continue the over-four-year war, as the US makes efforts to end it.

He said work to resolve the Ukraine war is proceeding in a discrete manner and will continue to do so, adding that it is premature to make conclusions about a change in Washington’s approach to military support for Kyiv.

Peskov denied there were agreed-upon international meetings on the war on the agenda, and declined to comment on media reports about a possible visit by FBI Director Cash Patel to Russia.

“Overall, of course, it would be better if brilliant technologies like Starlink were not used for military purposes at all,” Peskov said, concerning remarks from earlier Wednesday by a freelance advisor to Zelenskyy, who said speed restrictions were implemented on Starlink satellites in Ukraine.

The spokesman also spoke about artificial intelligence, arguing that some countries were weaponizing it and that it is necessary to be prepared for the challenges brought by these technologies.
