Iran parliament speaker warns US of ‘faster, heavier’ response to any new attack

Speaking during a parliamentary session, Qalibaf said the era of what he called “proportionate responses” was over and claimed that recent Iranian military operations against US bases were “only a beginning.”

“The Americans must have understood that the era of ‘proportionate responses’ is over,” he said.

“If they have not understood it by now, they should understand before it is too late that the rules of the game have changed, and from now on, any aggression against Iran’s interests and security will receive a faster, heavier and more painful response,” he added.

Qalibaf claimed that Iranian military strikes on US bases had put Washington under pressure, accusing US officials of using artificial intelligence to produce images and videos portraying developments on the battlefield.

His remarks come amid an ongoing conflict that began when the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran in February, prompting Tehran to carry out retaliatory missile and drone attacks against US targets across the region.

Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding in June, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, outlining steps toward ending hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and addressing economic restrictions.

The two sides have since accused each other of failing to implement commitments under the memorandum, while military tensions have continued alongside disputes over sanctions and navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
