Aryna Sabalenka: Back-to-back Champion at the Australian Open
In an impressive display of skill, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka clinched the Australian Open Women's Singles title, defeating China's Qinwen Zheng in straight sets.
The season's first Grand Slam, the Australian Open, witnessed Sabalenka's mastery as she overcame Zheng with scores of 6-3 and 6-2 in the women's singles final.
The high-stakes final in Melbourne pitted the second-seeded Sabalenka against the 12th-seed Zheng.
Sabalenka, reaching her consecutive championship at the Australian Open, dominated the match, which lasted an hour and 16 minutes. She secured her victory over Zheng, who was playing her first Grand Slam final, with 6-3 and 6-2 set scores.
BACK-TO-BACK VICTORIES
Sabalenka, winning without dropping a set, became the first woman since Belarus's Victoria Azarenka in 2012 and 2013 to claim back-to-back Australian Open singles titles.
A STAND FOR PALESTINE
Meanwhile, during the match, a spectator unfurled a Palestinian flag and chanted slogans for a "Free Palestine" and an immediate "Ceasefire." The game paused briefly during the commotion but resumed shortly after.
