Algerian footballer Youcef Atal sentenced for Palestine post
Algerian footballer Youcef Atal, who plays for Nice in France's Ligue 1, has been sentenced to an 8-month suspended prison term.

Atal received this sentence for a post about Palestine, which the French court deemed as 'inciting hatred on religious grounds.' Along with the suspended sentence, he also faces a 45,000 Euro fine.
Atal, currently with Nice, faced legal action due to his social media post supporting Palestine.
The 27-year-old Algerian right-back was indefinitely suspended from Nice following his Palestine-related post.
"INCITING HATRED ON RELIGIOUS GROUNDS"
The Nice Criminal Court in France ruled that Atal had committed the crime of 'inciting hatred on religious grounds.' The court imposed an 8-month suspended sentence and a 45,000 Euro fine.
It is reported that Atal plans to appeal the sentence within 10 days.
